What Is Character Voiceover?

More than a voice, a fully realized performance

Character voiceover is the art of building a distinct personality entirely through voice: tone, pacing, physicality, and emotional truth, with no face or body on screen to help carry the story. A strong character voice actor doesn’t just read lines, they make choices about who this character is, what they want, and how they move through the world.

Whether it’s a heroic lead, a comedic sidekick, a menacing villain, or a completely non-human creature, I build every character from the inside out.

My character and creature work has included The Walking Dead, the video game Stellar Age, and a handful of independent games along the way, each one asking for something a little different, and that variety is exactly what keeps this work interesting.

This started long before it was a career. I used to impersonate Marge Simpson around the house as a kid, and my dad would laugh every single time and tell me how good it was. That’s really where character work begins for me, paying close attention to a voice until it becomes second nature, then finding what makes people actually feel something when they hear it.

My Approach

Building a character from the inside out

Every character starts with a question: what does this character want, and what’s stopping them from getting it? From there, voice, pacing, and physicality follow naturally. I bring the same background in theatre, movement, and motion capture into every character session, so performances feel grounded even when the character isn’t human.

I also have experience in performance capture and creature acting, which means I understand how a character moves, not just how they sound, and that understanding shows up in the voice work too.

Who I Work With

Trusted across the game and animation industry

  • Game studios, from indie to AAA
  • Animation studios
  • Anime localization companies
  • Interactive media developers
  • Toy and specialty audio companies
  • Student filmmakers and animators

Student projects hold a genuine soft spot for me. I’m an actor as well as a voice actor, and I remember exactly what it’s like to be building something with a small crew and an even smaller budget. If you’re a student working on a film, game, or animated short and need a character voice, reach out, I’d love to be part of it.

Range varies by project, but I bring genuine versatility across age, tone, and personality, from grounded human characters to fully non-human creature work.

Do you provide auditions before booking?

Yes. Reach out with your character brief and a short script excerpt, and I’ll record a free custom audition so you can hear the fit before committing.

Yes, within reason. Send a reference and I’ll work to match tone, energy, and delivery style while keeping the performance natural and sustainable across a full project.
