The Recording Process
Once I step into the booth, the real storytelling begins.
A typical voiceover session may involve multiple takes, different approaches, and adjustments based on the director or client’s vision.
Sometimes a first take captures exactly what the project needs. Other times, we experiment, have fun, and play around with different possibilities and ways to read the script.
Maybe a line needs more energy or maybe it needs to feel more conversational. Maybe the emotion needs to be pulled back so the audience feels like they are having a personal conversation rather than listening to an advertisement. Personally, that collaboration is one of my favorite parts of voiceover!
Voice acting is not just about having a good voice. It is about being able to take direction, make adjustments quickly, and create a performance that serves the story. My background as an actor and performer influences every recording session.
As an actor, I bring years of experience performing on camera, underwater, and through motion capture into the booth. My experience in performance capture and motion capture allows me to approach characters with a full-body performance mindset.
Even when only my voice is being heard, the performance still comes from the entire actor.

One of the biggest misconceptions about voiceover is that it is simply reading. Trust me, it’s not. Voiceover is acting.
A narrator needs to understand the information they are sharing. A commercial performer needs to connect with the listener. A character actor needs to build an entire person, sometimes from only a few lines of dialogue. The voice is the tool, but storytelling is the foundation.
My background in acting, underwater performance, and entertainment has shaped the way I approach every project. Whether I am creating a character for a video game, narrating educational content, or recording a commercial, I always look for the emotional reason behind the words.
